A&W Restaurants are celebrating 90 years by giving away free root beer floats. Take your sweetie on a date this Friday for free. Maybe bring the kids for a family night.


Krispy Kreme also gives away free doughnuts to kids with A's on their report cards. This varies by location so give them a call to find out for sure. Doughnuts and root beer floats, what could be better?

You guessed it, its all over my Valentine's gift to her. In spite of my planning and scheming, Valentine's Day did not go off quite as planned. The story starts three days ago on Sunday. We came home from church to the sound of an alarm blaring through the house. Due to a high water table in the area, we have water alarms on the floor in case water starts to seep into the basement. One of these alarms was squealing for all its worth. The problem is that they are so high pitched, you can't readily tell where its coming from. Marriage on Television

arroyo TV Originally uploaded by reddirtrose . I had a couple of separate thoughts come together today. The first thought was about the number boys that are growing up in homes without fathers. There are so many single mothers either due to divorce, death, fathers abandoning their families and children concieved out of wedlock. Some sources say that as many as 50% of children will spend at least part of their childhood with only one parent. As wonderful as mothers and women are, boys want and need a male role model to show them how a man acts. When there is not a father to provide this role model, it must come from somewhere else. If that role model is to come from TV, I would be hard pressed to name one that I like. The second thought come from working on getting my book ready for printing.
