Homework assignment

My daughter had a home work assignment. I don't recall if it was for health or English class, but that doesn't really matter. The assignment was to interview a parent (or guardian) about dating. Come to think of it, it was health.

Anyway, there were several question she was to ask and we, as parents, had to answer. Reading the questions brought back some fun memories for me, so I decided to share the questions so you can share them with your sweetie.

Either post the answers in your own blog/website, as a comment here (keeping in mind the PG nature of this blog), or write them in a journal to share with your sweetie and children, as appropriate.

* Where did you go on your very first date? What did you do?
* Where did you go on your first date with your sweetie? What did you do?
* At what age did you start dating?
* How long did you and your sweetheart date before getting married?
* When did you know you were going to get married?
* What was the best date you ever went on?
* What was the worst date ever?
* What would you like to do on a date that you have never done before?

Hey, this is my first time at your blog but after poking around I've seen some interesting stuff so I just wanted to give a little *well done you* =)

Oh yeah, and I thought I'd answer those questions just for kicks.

* Where did you go on your very first date? What did you do?
- Out to a local basketball game, if memory serves.

* Where did you go on your first date with your sweetie? What did you do?
- We went out rock-climbing. He and I are both climbers and have been for years and we met at work. At the time, we both worked at an outdoors recreation shop, and I frequented a climbing gym four or five times a week. We went there.

* At what age did you start dating?
- Oh I have no idea. Um, sometime in high school.

* How long did you and your sweetheart date before getting married?
- I'm actually not married. My boyfriend and I have talked about it but right now, we're okay living together and being partners, the marriage stuff can come later, if it's made for us at all.

* When did you know you were going to get married?
- See above.

* What was the best date you ever went on?
- I've had a few really great ones with my boyfriend. One that really sticks out is our third date. We went to his apartment and made bread =)

* What was the worst date ever?
- On my birthday, my ex-fiance told me he'd been cheating on me. Mid-date. Kinda killed it. And right before a movie that involved cheating too wherein he spent the whole time trying to kiss me. Yuck.

* What would you like to do on a date that you have never done before?
- I'd really like to have a nice dinner out, a classic date, maybe go to a drive-in theater. I have an intestinal disorder, though, so it's really hard to eat out so I always just tote meds and food instead of trying to hassle with eating out.

Anyway, as I said before, great blog, thanks =)

Thanks for you post, its go to get to know you. Also thanks for sharing your dating experiences. Its fun to see how people meet and get ideas from their good dates, and bad.

I was surprised to have the first comment be from a non-married couple, but its still fun.

Why is it we want most what we can't have I wonder.

Great to hear from you again. What a romantic first date! Funny, neither my wife nor I can remember our first date. We were just friends who ended up getting married and living happily ever after.

Yeah, sorry about that. I know the label says "for Married Couples" and all, but I guess you could say that I'm married without the marriage. We're in a committed relationship and have been for some time and we do plan on spending the rest of our lives together. The trip down the aisle is the only thing missing and that's okay for our relationship right now.

LOL I have no idea why we want what we can't have!

So what are your answers to these questions?

Not a problem, just a surprise to me. Of course the tips and ideas in the blog will work in any long term committed relationship.

I'll post my answer tomorrow.
